  • To comply with the Missing child's Act, parents are asked to notify the school by note or phone the day of their child's absence.

  • Any bus problems, either on the bus or at the bus stop, should be directed to Tom Haley, bus supervisor at 389-5129.  Please bear with us the first weeks of school while we iron out new bus routes and pick-ups.  THE BUS ROUTES MAY VARY AND START EARLIER FOR THE ELEMENTARY ROUTES.  THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DAY WILL START 15 MINUTES EARLIER THAN LAST SCHOOL YEAR.

  • Starting time at Pleasant Elementary will be 8:45. (Homeroom 8:30 a.m. -8:45 a.m. as buses arrive).  The dismissal time will be 3:15 p.m. Students are not to enter the building until 8:30 a.m. Parents, please do not drop off students before 8:30 a.m.  This procedure is necessary due to the large number of students last year who were arriving before 8:30 a.m. and were unsupervised in the building.  This procedure will be enforced for liability purposes. Parents, please use the turn-around-paved area (west of fourth grade wing) when dropping off students in the morning and picking up students at the end of the school day.  This is the same procedure utilized last school year. This keeps you away from the bus traffic.

  • H & R Imaging will be taking student pictures the mid September.  More information will be sent to students and parents.

  • There will be a school newsletter (Familygram) produced this year to provide communication between the school and the community.  The August Familygram will be sent home via a hard copy. Once a month thereafter, the Familygram will be sent through e-mail listed on annual registration forms.  If you wish to receive a hard copy, please notify the school office at 389-4815.  The information can also be found on our school website under the Elementary Principal’s News section.

  • The Pleasant Community Digital Academy (PCA) is our All Day Kindergarten program, which will be in the 16th year of operation.  There will be a "phase-in" process the first week of the school. Letters have or will be mailed home to kindergarten parents explaining this process.  If you do not get your kindergarten letter by August 1st, please notify the school office at 389-4815. All kindergarten students are now required to have the following immunizations before entering school:

-    2 doses of MMR

-    5 doses of DTP (4 if the 4th dose was given after the 4th birthday)

-    4 doses of polio

-    3 doses of hepatitis B

-    2 doses of Varicella- Chicken Pox

Immunization can be obtained at the Marion County Health Department (387-6520) or from your child's pediatrician. Please take the child's current shot records with you to your appointment. For kindergarten physicals, you need to make an appointment by calling 387-6520.  Please take updated shot record to the school office before the start of school.

LIBRARY/MEDIA CENTER REMODEL:

A huge thank you to Tamara Holman, PTO Chair and all PTO members for hosting the 1st annual Walk-A-Thon.  It was a BIG SUCCESS! Donated proceeds funded the remodel of the Elementary Library/Media Center! Here’s a sneak peek:
